VIKING - ORIGINAL PAINTING

Original 60x40inch acrylic painting by Ross Baines. As a lifelong fan of combat sports with a deep appreciation for 'the warriors' among us and throughout history, it was only a matter of time until the fearsome Viking joined my latest collection of 'Warriors' paintings.

I painted this Viking in black and white to evoke the harsh, unforgiving world he lived in. The splash of red in the fur represents the fire that rages beneath the surface and the blood that’s been shed in the name of honour.

With every stroke of the brush and palette knife along with the sublimely rough textures, I focused on capturing the essence of what it means to be a warrior who refuses to be broken by the elements or by enemies. This is a tribute to that relentless spirit that lives in every true fighter, ancient or modern.
